
Alabama Baseball Summer League Review

The Crimson Tide sent 12 players to play summer ball, split across nine different leagues
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Twelve returning members of the Alabama baseball team spent the summer months playing in various collegiate summer leagues spread throughout the country. Below is an update of how some of the Crimson Tide's players closed out their time away from Tuscaloosa.
Joe Breaux | OF | Keene Swamp Bats (New England)
The Swamp Bats received impressive production from Joe Breaux this summer. The Tomball, Texas, native closed out his time in New England playing in 43 games and recorded a .307 average, totaling 51 hits to rank second on the team. Breaux added 22 RBI and 24 runs scored while stealing 19 bases in 20 attempts for Keene.
Mason Duke | RHP | Morehead City Marlins (Coastal Plain)
The Morehead City Marlins finished the summer as Coastal Plain League champions, thanks in part to a strong effort from Mason Duke. The rising-senior closed out his time with the Marlins with a 6-2 record in 13 appearances, including six starts, totaling 33.1 innings of work. Duke struck out 36 batters, good for second on the Marlins, while walking just nine.
Sam Gardner | RHP | Willmar Stingers (Northwoods)
Right-handed pitcher Sam Gardner played a key role in helping the Stingers to a successful summer season. Gardner made six appearances with four starts and finished 2-0, sporting a lowly 1.85 ERA (5 ER/24.1 IP). Â
Brady Greene | RHP | Jupiter Wave (Palm Beach)
Brady Greene closed out his summer league play with a 0.96 ERA (2 ER/18.2 IP) across seven appearances. Greene struck out 18 compared to only two walks and finished 1-0 by summer's end.
Brock Guffey | LHP | Bethesda Big Train (Cal Ripken)
Brock Guffey helped Bethesda claim the the Cal Ripken League championship thanks to a strong showing. The left-hander finished with a 3-0 record and a 2.17 ERA (7 ER/29.0 IP) across his seven starts on the hill, striking out 25 batters in the process.
Walker McCleney | OF | Leesburg Lightning (Florida Collegiate)
Walker McCleney saw time in 35 games for the Lightning, finishing with a .438 on-base percentage that included 20 walks and 20 hits. McCleney contributed 15 RBI and 25 runs scored while adding seven stolen bases to his summer totals.
Connor Stutts | OF/RHP | Brookhaven Bucks (Sunbelt)
The Brookhaven Bucks earned their first Sunbelt title in team history, thanks in large part to Connor Stutts. The outfielder led the team in home runs (8), RBI (25), runs scored (12) and walks (12), helping the Bucks to 21 wins, the most in the eight-year history of the organization. Stutts also added 2.2 innings of work on the mound, striking out three in the process.
John Trousdale | INF | Willmar Stingers (Northwoods)
John Trousdale's productive summer came to an end. The rising junior led Willmar in doubles (20), RBI (34) and walks (41) while ranking second in hits (69) and runs scored (46) and tying for second in home runs with five. Trousdale helped the Stingers advance to the Northwoods League North Division Championship Game and led Willmar to a 30-7 record overall.
The 2018-19 Crimson Tide baseball players now sets their sights on Fall Camp. The Tide's start date for full team practice is still to be announced.
