Late Runs on Day Two Push Overall Total to 6-2, Gray, in Baseball’s Fall World Series

The Gray squad came away with a 4-0 tally across seven innings on day two for the overall lead
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Day two of Alabama baseball's Fall World Series saw the Gray squad come away with a 4-0 advantage over the Crimson team on Wednesday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. With the 4-0 effort, Gray moved in front with a two-day lead of 6-2 following Tuesday's 2-2 tie.
Both teams received a standout effort on the mound to begin the day, with each starter contributing 4.0 scoreless frames. Gray used two more arms to piece together a seven-inning shutout, with the two relievers tossing the final three scoreless frames. Crimson's relief arms would surrender the day's runs, giving up four across the final three innings.
Gray squad put up a four-spot in the home half of the sixth to take the day's lead. Sophomore Sam Praytor kickstarted the rally with a leadoff single and was followed by a one-out walk and another single to load the bases. Freshman T.J. Reeves followed with an RBI-single to center to bring in Praytor for the game's first run before a Crimson call to the bullpen.
Following warmups, a popup resulted in the inning's second out and brought Morgan McCullough to the dish, with the junior drawing a bases-loaded walk for Gray's second run. A single in the next at-bat crossed two more to give the home team the 4-0 lead after six. Each team advanced a runner into scoring position in the seventh but was unable to plate any more runs.
Alabama will take Thursday off before returning to The Joe on Friday for the final innings of the Fall World Series. Day three of the Crimson Tide's extended game is set to start at 4 p.m. CT.
