Exhibition Split for Alabama and Florida State on Friday

The Crimson Tide took game one before falling to the ‘Noles in the nightcap
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Crimson Tide's fall exhibition slate came to a close on Friday evening in Tallahassee as Alabama baseball squared off with Florida State. The two teams took part in a pair of seven-inning scrimmages at Dick Howser Stadium.
Game one finished in favor of the Crimson Tide, 7-4. Eight of the nine starters on offense reached base safely in the first matchup highlighted by junior Kolby Robinson's 2-for-2 showing that included a sacrifice fly and a team-high three RBI. The pitching effort was pieced together by a trio of new arms plus Sam Finnerty, with the senior collecting the save thanks to 1-2-3 seventh. The nightcap went to the Seminoles, as Alabama was unable to match Florida State's late offense.
Alabama previously squared off with SEC foe Tennessee last weekend for the first of the Tide's two fall exhibitions before tonight's pairing with FSU. The fall camp schedule will wrap up for UA next week with the Fall World Series.

"This was another good day for us. I thought we competed well against a very talented Florida State team, a club that could easily be in Omaha come June. Our young pitchers continue to progress; we played good defense; and collectively, our at-bats have improved throughout the fall."

Overall thoughts on the pitching:
"As a whole, this was another step in the right direction. We definitely improved in some areas from last Sunday in Knoxville. I'm still pleased with the freshmen, and we have some guys making big strides on this pitching staff. These fall games have been a great opportunity to see how guys respond when the lights come on. This is a fun group to work with that is hungry to keep getting better."

Overall thoughts on the hitting:
"Today was a very good day overall for our hitters against a really good Florida State pitching staff that provided us with a lot of different looks and styles. Guys were aggressive in the strike zone and found ways to score, especially when we showed the grit to come back from a two-run deficit in game one. We're very thankful that we have these opportunities to play outside competition like this. This and the Tennessee exhibition will be big for our overall development offensively."
