Matic Kriznik and Vit Kalina battled through three sets in their second-round matchup
TULSA, Okla. – Alabama's Matic Kriznik and Vit Kalina concluded competition at the ITA All-American Championships on Sunday, falling in the second round of the Pre-Qualifying Doubles Draw.
Kriznik and Kalina battled to take a 7-4 tiebreaker in the opening set to secure the advantage against Nicolas Arseneault and Matthew Rankin from Kentucky. The Wildcats, however, won set two with a 6-4 decision to take momentum into the final round, before grabbing a 10-8 victory to clinch the match.
The three-set decision was the second in a row for the UA pairing who advanced out of the opening round with a 6-7(6), 6-2, 10-6 win over Webber State's Connor Kruger and Minh Tuan Dinh Viet.
Kriznik and Kalina were scheduled to compete in the consolation singles draw Sunday, but both matches were cancelled due to inclement weather.
From Head Coach George Husack
"Good competitive matches in singles and doubles this weekend that showed us areas where we can keep improving. We'll have a good training block ahead before hosting the Southern Regional Championships where we'll continue to make more progress with the process."
