TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball opened its fall slate with a 15-2 win over West Alabama Friday night at Rhoads Stadium.
The Crimson Tide will be back on the field Saturday, Oct. 11, playing Mississippi State at Noon before playing 10.0 more innings against Memphis.
FROM HEAD COACH PATRICK MURPHY
"We really appreciate West Alabama for coming over and playing against us tonight. We have a lot of respect for Coach [Stephanie] Defeo and her staff. I thought the pitchers, catchers and Coach [Lance] McMahon stole the show tonight. Just one hit over 10.0 innings. They all pitched really well, got ahead of most of the hitters and the defense played very well behind them."

- Marlie Giles and Ambrey Taylor each had home runs, with Taylor's being and inside-the-park homer
