Hilda Olemomoi Captures Silver Medal on Second Day of NCAA Championships

The Crimson Tide’s Olemomoi broke the school record en route to her second-place finish in the 10,000-meter final
EUGENE, Ore. – Alabama distance runner Hilda Olemomoi closed the second day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as the national runner-up in the women's 10,000-meter run, giving Alabama its second podium finish of the championship meet.
Olemomoi ran a blistering 31:51.89 in the women's 10,000-meter run, giving the Trans-Nzoia, Kenya, native the fastest time in school history and the eighth-fastest time in collegiate history. Her performance also improved her personal best by just over 14 seconds.
Earlier in the evening, UA teammate Doris Lemngole qualified for Saturday's final in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase behind the fastest event prelim time of 9:38.69, outpacing the competition by 10 seconds.

- The women's squad of Na'Taja Ballard, Ariike Elijah, Milan Fields and Caelyn Harris ran a season-best 43.76 in the women's 4x100-meter relay
- Victoria Faber finished the national meet as an honorable mention All-American in pole vault

- Alabama returns to Oregon's Hayward Field Friday for the men's event finals
- The third day of the NCAA Championships will start with the men's 400-meter dash at 9:02 p.m. CT as Samuel Ogazi looks to reach the podium
- The Crimson Tide will compete in four total events on Friday, all on the track
- 400-meter dash (Ogazi), 400-meter hurdles (Chris Robinson | Corde Long), 200-meter dash (Tarsis Orogot) and 4x400-meter relay (Robinson, Ogazi, Matthew Weaver, Khaleb McRae)
