FROM THE HEAD COACH
- Head coach Jay Seawell on the 34th annual Pate and his team's performance: "It was another great Pate tournament. Old Overton was in terrific shape and having Mr. Pate himself present throughout as well as Jim Brotherton our tournament director – they all do just an incredible job. To have the teams we have here and hear the positive things they say is just great. For us, it was a tough week and any time you have a disappointing week it begins right here with the head coach. We need to go back to the drawing board, get some guys healthy, look at getting some guys back in the lineup and find a way to correct this. I do believe we still have an opportunity to be a very good team. We have a lot of talent and firepower but we are just kind of misfiring. Unfortunately, we had a bad week and it came in front of our fans and at a tournament we are so proud of in the Pate. I hate that for our guys and for the people that pull for us but sometimes those are the types of things that spur you to get better. Our know our guys will regroup and do just that.
- Seawell on prepping for the Cypress Point Classic – the final tournament of the fall season: "We get to go to a special place in Cypress Point where it'll be eight teams from across the country competing in a match play that is similar to the Bush Cup format. There will be a team aspect to it and then some individual matches. It will be good for our team bonding and getting more experience with match play which are prominent parts of our SEC and NCAA postseason formats. On top of that, Cypress Point is one of the more iconic golf courses in the world so I am proud that our program has been invited and we look forward to that contest in a couple weeks."
Alabama will next compete at the Cypress Point Classic, which will be held on Oct. 28-29 in Pebble Beach, Calif.
