
Patrick Kaukovalta Begins Play at ITA All-American Championships on Monday

The junior will take on No. 73 Karl Poling (Princeton) in the first round of qualifying singles
TULSA, Okla. – Junior Patrick Kaukovalta begins the singles qualifying round of the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., on Monday against No. 15 seed and No. 73 in the country Karl Poling from Princeton. The two will battle it out at 11:30 a.m. on the University of Tulsa's campus.
Tournament Info
- The qualifying round consists of 128 singles players vying for 16 spots in the main singles draw set to begin on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
- In the main singles draw, there are 48 pre-selected players, including senior Edson Ortiz. The 16 qualifiers will then play in the 64-player main draw.
- Ortiz and Kaukovalta are also in the main draw for doubles and are currently ranked No. 29 in the country.

- Ortiz and Kaukovalta are both 3-1 in singles play early on in the fall season.
- The duo has yet to play as a doubles pair this year.
- Last year, Ortiz competed in the qualifying round in singles and won two matches before falling in the qualifier final. The Chihuahua, Mexico, native also played in the main doubles draw with former Alabama All-American, Mazen Osama.
