Gianna Paul tallied her 34th career goal to become the program’s leading goal scorer and help the Crimson Tide secure the program’s 200th home victory
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– The Alabama soccer team (6-2-1, 0-1-0 SEC) captured a trio of goals against Lipscomb on Sunday, including Gianna Paul’s 34th career goal to become the Crimson Tide’s all-time leading goal scorer. In addition to Paul, Maddie Padelski and Larkin Thomason both scored in the match to secure the 3-0 victory against the Bisons (4-3-1, 0-0-0 ASUN)
Paul’s goal would come in the 65th minute of action after the Bisons failed to clear a cross from Cameron Silva. The goal broke a 20-year-old record set by Libby Probst, who tallied 33 goals at Alabama from 2002-05.
Padelski (7:07) was credited with the game-winning goal, her second this season as both she and Thomason (54:53) notched their third goals of the year.
Additionally, the win marked the Crimson Tide’s 200th home victory.

From Head Coach Wes Hart
“I am very pleased with our performance today. Once again, we were able to dominate possession, territory and chances. This time, we were able to turn it into a positive result. We scored some nice goals. Very happy to see Gianna score her 34th career goal at home in a winning effort. She’s been such an incredible player for us over the years. I’m glad her name will be in the Bama Soccer history book. She deserves it! I feel we are in a good place heading into Thursday night’s game at LSU. We should be getting some key players back from injury and our team is playing with some confidence right now”
How It Happened
- An early goal by Maddie Padelski set the tone for the day as Nadia Ramadan sent a long ball across the box to the UA sophomore to finish in the opening eight minutes
- Although the Tide would carry just a 1-0 advantage heading into the half, the team dominated Lipscomb offensively, leading 13-2 in shots
- Less than 10 minutes after the restart, Melina Rebimbas played a ball towards the box for Gianna Paul, who slid and set an unmarked Larkin Thomason up for an easy ball into the right corner
- It would only take another 10 minutes for Paul to net her record-breaking shot after Cameron Silva’s cross went off the head of a Lipscomb defender and towards Paul at the top of the box
- Paul fired the shot low and into the far corner for her sixth goal of the season and 34th of her career
- Paul has now scored in back-to-back games, tying the record set by Libby Probst against South Carolina and breaking the 20-year-old standard against Lipscomb
- Madi Munguia notched her second solo clean sheet and third combined shutout, sharing a perfect performance in net with Coralie Lallier against Chattanooga (8/17)
- The game marked the final nonconference match up for the Crimson Tide
- Alabama has now won 200 home matches as a program
Next
- Alabama will head to LSU on Thursday
- The game in Baton Rouge, La., is set to kick off at 7 p.m. CT on SEC Network+
