New Partnership
Last week, you may have seen the announcement of our significant partnership with the U.S. Navy's Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) Program to expand workforce development opportunities across Alabama and strengthen America's shipbuilding industrial base.
By entering this partnership, we created an impactful way to support the state of Alabama, as well as the nation. We have the unique ability to help shine a spotlight on the U.S. Navy's MIB Program and its Build Giants Alabama initiative as it assembles a workforce in this vital industry for current and future generations.
By doing things such as adding the initiative's logo on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium as well as in-venue messaging featuring Coach Saban, it creates visibility and highlights a larger effort to connect Alabama's statewide talent with a critical workforce development program for our community and the country.
Bounce Back Win
Speaking of football, it was great to get a big bounce back win - and I do mean big - with a 73-0 victory over ULM last Saturday night.Â
Head coach Kalen DeBoer and his team will remain at home as we take on the Badgers Saturday morning at 11 a.m. CT. It will mark the second straight year we've played Wisconsin, taking a 42-10 decision last year at Camp Randall Stadium.
Honoring our First Responders on 9/11
Alabama Athletics, in coordination with the University of Alabama Police Department, once again hosted the Tuscaloosa 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, which took place this morning inside Coleman Coliseum. Â
The Memorial Stair Climb honors the FDNY, NYPD, Port Authority Police (PAPD) and EMS who selflessly gave their lives in the aid of others on Sept. 11, 2001. The climb consists of 2,200 steps up and 2,200 steps down, equivalent to the 110 floors of the World Trade Center. The University of Alabama Police Department organized its first 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in 2018.Â
Men's Golf Opens Season by Winning the Folds of Honor Collegiate... Again
The men's golf team began the year the same way as last year, sweeping team and medalist trophies at the Folds of Honor Collegiate. What an incredible event for our guys to be able to be a part of, and I know it was an honor for coach Jay Seawell and his team to, once again, be able to compete in the event. Congrats to the team on a great start to its 2025-26 season.
Soccer Keeps Rollin'
Our soccer team continued its hot start to the year, and is coming off an impressive 1-1 result at Duke - the No. 3-ranked team in the nation - last Sunday. Nadia Ramadan scored the equalizer against the previously undefeated Blue Devils with 44 seconds remaining on the clock.
We hope to see you tonight when we open SEC play against South Carolina at 7 p.m. at the Alabama Soccer Complex.
Tennis Opening Weekend
Both our men's and women's tennis teams are set to open their fall seasons this weekend. Head coach George Husack and his team will head to Montgomery where they will compete at the annual Blue Gray National Tennis Classic on Sept. 12-14. Meanwhile, women's head coach Jonatan Berhane will take his team to the Debbie Southern Classic in Greenville, S.C., Sept. 12-14.
Volleyball Defeats Wake Forest in Thriller Last Night
What a night it was for head coach Rashinda Reed and her team as our ladies captured an exciting five-set victory over Wake Forest in Foster Auditorium. The matchup between the SEC and ACC teams were a part of the inaugural Showdown at the Net series between the two conferences.
The team will be on the road before returning back home when we host the Crimson Classic where we will open with Memphis next Thursday night before taking on UCF on Saturday.
Baseball and Softball Announce SEC Schedules
Our baseball and softball teams, each coming off appearances in last year's NCAA Tournament, have announced their 2026 league schedules. Head coach Rob Vaughn and the baseball team will open with at Kentucky on March 13 with the first conference series inside The Joe March 20-22 vs. Florida. Meanwhile, Patrick Murphy and Team 30 will open the SEC slate March 6 at Georgia and play their first home series in the Rhoads House vs. Arkansas March 13-15.Â
University Spotlight
We were proud of our summer graduates with 21 student-athletes earning degrees in August graduation, bringing our 2024-25 yearly total to 154 student-athletes that graduated this past year!
However, we had another special graduation in August. Once a year, in a small, emotionally significant ceremony, preschool-age children mark their own milestone at UA by graduating from the RISE Center. I hope you'll take a moment to read about the impact the RISE Center makes in Tuscaloosa.
#RollTideFriday
We love seeing all of your #RollTideFriday photos and always have a variety of our great fans displaying the Alabama "A" around the country and the world. This week's selected photos take us to places such as the Potola Palace in Lhasa, Tibet where we see Fred Emerling proudly representing our track and field program. Meanwhile, on this side of the globe, Cindy and William Huckaby were representing Alabama in Annapolis, Md.
