
Erin Hayes Joins Alabama Rowing as Assistant Coach

Head Coach Kumari Lewis hires Hayes after serving as head coach at St. Andrew’s
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama head coach Kumari Lewis announced on Friday the hiring of assistant coach, Erin Hayes, who arrives to Tuscaloosa after serving the last two years as head coach at St. Andrew's in Roswell, Ga.
"I am really excited for the opportunity to work with Erin. Not only is it special to have an alumni coxswain returning to Bama, but I know Erin is going to be an integral part of this team and staff," Lewis said. "Her leadership and skill have led to great successes at Saint Andrew's and I can't wait for her to come home and help create the magic here at Bama. Roll Tide!"
During her time at St. Andrew's, Hayes led the women's team to three national championships in the 8+ and the 4+ crews in back-to-back seasons. Hayes returns to Tuscaloosa after spending 2014-18 as a coxswain for Alabama rowing.Â
"I am so excited to be back in Tuscaloosa and part of the rowing team again," Hayes said. "This program meant a lot to me as a student-athlete, and it's really special to return as a coach. I can't wait to work with this incredible group of rowers and coaches under Coach Kumari's leadership."
Hayes Bio
- Spent 10 years at St. Andrews in Roswell, Ga. and served the last two seasons as the women's head coach
- In her two years as head coach, Hayes led St. Anderew's to capturing the 2024 National Championship in the Women's Youth 4+Â
- Captured multiple Southeast Regional Championships in the Women's 8+ and 4+ crews
- Won four straight women's overall Southeast Regional championships
- Claimed back-to-back overall championships at the Head of the Hooch, with back-to-back wins in the Women's Youth 8+, 4+ and 2+ crews
- Placed sixth in the Women's Youth 8+ at the Head of Charles
- From 2018-23, Hayes served as the Novice, U17 and U16 women's coach at St. Andrew's
- Began at St. Andrew's in 2015 as the summer camp coordinator and recruiting
- Obtains US Rowing Level 2 and 3 certificationsÂ
