
Former Crimson Tide Star Alexa Guarachi Enjoys Stellar Month on the WTA Circuit

The women’s tennis standout is coming off a WTA doubles title at the Istanbul Open and a championship final at the Internationaux de Strasbourg
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – University of Alabama women's tennis alum Alexa Guarachi has enjoyed an outstanding month on the WTA Tour, including winning the Istanbul Open doubles championship.
Guarachi combined with Desirae Krawczyk to earn a dominating 6-1, 6-3 win over Ellen Perez and Storm Sanders to earn the title. On the way to the finals, Guarachi and Krawczyk downed Giuliana Olmos and Kaitlyn Christian, 6-3, 7-5, Elixane Lechemia and Ingrid Neel, 6-4, 6-4, and Lidziya Marozava and Andreea Mitu, 4-6, 6-1 (10-8).
It was Guarachi's first WTA doubles title of 2020 and the second of her career.
Guarachi and Krawczyk also made the finals of last weekend's Internationaux de Strasbourg, before being edged in a tiebreaker by Makoto Ninomiya and Nao Hibino, 10-4 after splitting the sets 6-4, 7-6.
This summer also saw Guarachi and Krawczyk play in the main draw of the US Open as well as the Italian Open.
