
Crimson Tide Men and Women Picked Third in SEC Cross Country Preseason Poll

Alabama opens season at the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic this Saturday
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Both Alabama men's and women's cross country have been picked to finish third by the conference coaches in the 2020 Southeastern Conference cross country preseason poll released Tuesday afternoon.
A season ago, the Crimson Tide men finished runner-up at the conference meet with three runners finishing in the top-10 individually. Meanwhile, the women finished fifth, marking the first top-five team finish since 2015.

Both the Arkansas men’s and women’s cross country teams claimed the top spots as decided by a vote of the league’s head coaches. The Arkansas men garnered nine first place votes, while the seven-time defending women's champions, Arkansas, nearly earned a unanimous decision with 13 first-place votes atop the women's poll.
Points for the men’s poll were awarded on a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11 basis, while the women’s poll was awarded on a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13 basis. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams.
All 14 SEC schools are scheduled to begin the cross country season this week with meets on four different SEC campuses. The 2020 SEC Cross Country Championships are slated to take place Friday, Oct. 30 in Baton Rouge, La.
Alabama will kick off the 2020 season this Saturday (Sept. 19) at the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tenn.
