Guarachi and Desirae Krawczyk will play Vera Zvonareva and Laura Siegemund tomorrow afternoon
NEW YORK CITY – Former Alabama women's tennis great Alexa Guarachi and partner Desirae Krawczyk will begin the 2020 U.S. Open with a first-round matchup against Vera Zvonareva and Laura Siegemund on Wednesday afternoon in New York City. The match will be on Court 15 and is the third to go on after the first match doubles match begins at 10 a.m. CT.
In the 2019 U.S. Open, Guarachi became the first UA women's tennis alumna to win a Grand Slam match after advancing past the first round with Bernada Bera. The two followed it up by upsetting the No. 5 seed Demi Schuurs and Anna-Lena Gronefeld in straight sets to move on to the Round of 16, where they eventually fell.
Guarachi is currently No. 42 in the world in the Women's Tennis Association doubles rankings, while Krawczyk is No. 34. She earned her career-best No. 38 ranking back on Feb. 18, 2020.
