Michaela Morard falls in match play at the Woodmont Country Club
ROCKVILLE, Md. – Alabama incoming freshman Michaela Morard concluded her run Thursday afternoon at the 120th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship at the Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md.
After turning in a 76 in the opening round, Morard posted a 1-under par 71, in the second round on her way to tying for 26th with a 3-over par 147 to conclude stroke play.

In match play, Morard was seeded No. 35 and faced the 30th seeded Amari Avery. In a back-and-forth battle, Morard ultimately fell in the final two holes with a 2-up decision to Avery during Thursday's round of 64.

Alabama graduate student Kenzie Wright tied for 60th overall in stroke play with a 6-over par 150 (75-75), but did not advance in the playoff. She was one of 15 players vying for six spots in match play.
