The Crimson Tide fired off a season-high 21 shots Friday night, but none would stick
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – The 11-seeded Alabama women's soccer squad came up just short in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament, as the team fell by a score of 2-0 to 14-seeded LSU Friday night at the City of Orange Beach Sportsplex.
Friday's match marked Alabama's 13th appearance in the conference tournament and fourth in the last five years.
The Tigers opened the scoring in the 12th minute, when Tinaya Alexander recovered the ball from a scramble in front of the net and Taylor Dobles sent it past the back post to make it 1-0. The score remained the same through the remainder of the first half.
With three minutes left to play in regulation, Courtney Henderson found Dobles for the insurance goal and her second score of the game to make it 2-0, which would be the final score and LSU's first win of the season.
Similar to the squads' first match up two weeks ago in Baton Rouge, the game turned into a physical battle. The Tigers committed 10 fouls, while the Tide registered six of their own and each team drew three yellow cards.
