
Five Alabama Track and Field Standouts Compete in The Match, Europe vs. USA

Crimson Tide senior Shelby McEwen took sixth in men’s high jump for Team USA
MINSK, Belarus – The Alabama track & field program was represented by two current and three former student-athletes in the two-day meet, The Match, Europe vs. USA at the Dinamo National Olympic Stadium.
While Team USATF made a valiant effort, Team Europe edged out in the mixed medley relay to secure Team Europe's 724.5 - 601.5 win in The Match, Europe vs. USA in Minsk, Belarus.
Seniors Robert Dunning and Shelby McEwen along with Crimson Tide alums Quanesha Burks, Kord Ferguson and Daniel Haugh competed for Team USA in the historic head-to-head dual meet between the United States and Europe.

ROBERT DUNNING
Men's 110-Meter Hurdles
- The Alabama senior clocked a time of 13.86 to take seventh in the men's 110-meter hurdles.
SHELBY MCEWEN
Men's High Jump
- Defending NCAA Indoor High Jump Champion, McEwen, placed sixth in the men's high jump with a best clearance of 2.23m/7-3.75.
QUANESHA BURKS
Women's Long Jump
- In a stacked field, with Reigning World champion Brittney Reese and local favorite Nastassia Mironchyk-Ivanova of Belarus, Burks finished fifth with a mark of 6.48m/21.3 on her second attempt.
KORD FERGUSON
Men's Discuss
- The 2019 Alabama graduate threw a best of 56.71m/186.1 on his third attempt to place seventh.
DANIEL HAUGH
Men's Hammer
- Defending NCAA Hammer Throw Champion, Daniel Haugh, took fifth in men's hammer with a best throw of 74.14m/243-3.
