
Vincent Kiprop Earns Second SEC Men’s Runner of the Year Award

Kiprop adds end of year conference award to an already impressive season
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Alabama graduate student Vincent Kiprop added to an impressive cross country resume as he was named the 2019 Southeastern Conference Men's Runner of the Year, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

SEC Men's Runner of the Year
- Tuesday's announcement marks the second of Kiprop's career (2017, 2019) and the sixth Alabama athlete to be honored as the conference's annual award. David Kimani was the first UA male runner to earn the honor (2001, 2002), while Emmanuel Bor (2007), Tyson Davis (2008) and Antibahs Kosgei (2015) were Alabama's most recent winners prior to Kiprop.
- Kiprop has been one of the Tide's top-finishers all season, starting the season with a first-place finish at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational (Oct. 4).
- At the SEC Championships (Nov. 1), he captured his second SEC individual title of his career earning First-Team All-SEC Honors, while leading the team to a second-place finish.
- The Kericho, Kenya, native earned two accolades following his performance at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational.
- Kiprop earned SEC Men's Runner of the Week honors and was also named to USTFCCCA National Men's Athlete of the Week, marking the first time since 2015 that an athlete from Alabama has been named National Athlete of the Week during the cross country season.
