Crimson Tide hold steady in first regular season poll of 2018
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama remains ranked No. 6 in the nation in the first regular season United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's Cross Country National Coaches' Poll, which was released Tuesday afternoon.
The Crimson Tide is again the top-ranked Southeastern Conference team in this week's poll. Alabama is joined in the rankings by SEC rivals Arkansas (No. 14), and Ole Miss (No. 30).
The top eight this week are unchanged from the preseason rankings. Defending NCAA champion Northern Arizona is No. 1, followed by BYU, Portland, Stanford and Iowa State to round out the top five, while Alabama, Colorado, Oregon, Wisconsin and Colorado State hold spots 6-10, respectively.
The Crimson Tide men and women are off until they travel to Madison, Wis., for the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday, Sept. 28. The meet will be one of the deepest of the regular season with 18 men's and 16 women's teams currently ranked in the top 30 scheduled to participate.
