Alabama Men’s Golf Vaults up Capital Collegiate Leaderboard Following Second Round Score of 11-Under Par 277

Lee Hodges matches career-low round of 5-under 67 to lead the Crimson Tide
DALTON, Ga. – The No. 19 Alabama men's golf vaulted up the leaderboard at the Carpet Capital Collegiate with a second round total of 11-under par 277 on Saturday. The Crimson Tide will come into Sunday's third and final round in a tie for second place overall with a 36-hole score of 5-under 571 (294-277).
Alabama's second round total was not only the low round of the day by any team, but it also marked the lowest score by any team after the first two rounds of play. The Tide and tournament host 18th-ranked Georgia Tech (571) are tied for second place, as both teams trail No. 10 Florida (570) by one stroke entering the tournament's final round. Tennessee is in fourth at 4-under par 572, while No. 13 Auburn (575) and No. 7 LSU (575) round out the top five.
Three of the Crimson Tide golfers finished the day under par, led by senior Lee Hodges who matched his career-low round with a 5-under 67 on Saturday. The Ardmore, Tenn., native fired a bogey-free round that featured five birdies, two coming on the front nine and three on the back nine. Hodges enters Sunday's third round in a tie for 11th place with a 36-hole total of 141 (74-67).
Junior Davis Riley collected a team-best seven birdies to go along with four bogeys to end the second round with a 3-under par 69. Riley warmed up on the back nine, as he recorded five birdies in a six-hole span from holes 11 through 16. The Hattiesburg, Miss., native is in a tie for 15th overall with a 2-under 142 (73-69).
Senior Steven Setterstrom was the third Alabama golfer to shoot below par during Saturday's second round, carding a 2-under par 70 on the day. Setterstrom is in a tie for 20th – giving the Tide three golfers among the top 20 – with a total of even par 144 (74-70).
Freshman Davis Shore improved seven strokes from his first round to Saturday's second round, and leaped up to a tie for 43rd with a 149 (78-71) on the par 72, 7,012-yard Farm Golf Club. Senior Jonathan Hardee rounds out the Alabama golfers in 68th position with a 154 (73-81).
The tournament, which boasts 10 teams either ranked or receiving votes to be ranked in the Preseason Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, will host the final round of play on Sunday . Alabama is set to tee off the third round on at 9:30 a.m. ET (8:30 a.m. CT) off Hole No. 1. Live stats throughout the event can be found on Golfstat.com.
