Former Tide captain Jarryd Botha has one of the most decorated résumés in Alabama men's tennis history. In his four years with the Crimson Tide, the Cape Town, South Africa, native racked up 71 wins in singles play as well as 68 in doubles. In 2013, Botha made it to the NCAA Doubles Championship as a top-eight seed, earning himself All-America honors. That same year, he went to the NCAA Singles Championship where he advanced to the round of 32.
Botha's 2013 senior campaign was one to remember. During the season, he defeated the top two players from Ole Miss, first with the fifth-ranked player in the nation in Jonas Lutjen, and then defeated No. 15 Nik Scholtz to clinch the win against the Rebels in the SEC Tournament on their home court. Botha also reached a singles ranking as high as No. 49 during the 2013 season. In doubles play, Botha earned five wins against ranked opponents while teaming up with David Vieyra and Becker O'Shaughnessey, including three against top-25 duos.
The 2014 reunion will be held Nov. 14-15. The event will include a Meet the Tide social, doubles mixer with current and former players, a tennis tailgate and the Alabama football game against Mississippi State. For more details, e-mail Coach Husack at ghusack@ia.ua.edu. Roll Tide!
