
Women's Golf Tied for Fifth at Cougar Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The University of Alabama women's golf team is tied for fifth place after two rounds of the Cougar Classic on Monday at the par-72, 6,205-ard Yeamans Hall Club.
The No. 3 Crimson Tide shot 6-over 294 on the heels of a 1-under 287 in Sunday's opening round for a 5-over-par total of 581. North Carolina took the team lead after 36 holes with a 6-under-par round of 282 for a 9-under total of 657. Florida is in second place after back-to-back 4-under-par rounds of 284. LSU slipped to third at 5-under after a 3-over 291 on Monday. North Carolina is fourth a 1-over 577 while Alabama is tied with Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Georgia in fifth.
Junior Jennifer Kirby posted a 1-over-par 73 in the second round and is tied for 12th at 2-under-par 142. She carded a 69 in round one and is seven shots off the individual lead of Tennessee's Erica Popson.
Hannah Collier and Courtney McKim rebounded with solid rounds Monday. McKim's second-round score of 73 was seven shots better than round one, while Collier was three shots better on Monday with a 74. Collier is now tied for 55th heading into the final round with McKim in a tie for 67th.
Senior Brooke Pancake is tied for 20th after 36 holes of play. The Chattanooga, Tenn., native fired a 2-over-par 74 in round two and is even-par 144 for the tournament. Sophomore Stephanie Meadow shot 4-over 76 and is 3-over in a tie for 32nd after two rounds.
The Crimson Tide will play with Georgia and Mississippi in Tuesday's final round of the Cougar Classic at the Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, S.C.
