TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Fresh off its victory in the NCAA Fall Preview, the No. 4 Alabama women's golf team will head to Nashville, Tenn., this weekend for the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship hosted by Vanderbilt University.
The Crimson Tide finished tied for seventh in last year's rain-shortened event, shooting a 36-hole total of 6-under par, 570. Eight of the nation's top 10 teams competed on the par-72 Vanderbilt Legends Golf Course in 2009, and this year is no different, as the Tide will be going up against another strong field, featuring six of the nation's top 10 teams and 15 of the top 25.
In addition to Alabama, No. 1 USC, No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 Purdue, No. 5 Duke, No. 6 Auburn, No. 8 Wake Forest, No. 10 Vanderbilt, No. 13 Georgia, No. 14 Stanford, No. 16 LSU, No. 19 Florida, No. 20 California, No. 21 Arizona State, No. 24 Oklahoma State, No. 25 Texas, College of Charleston and North Carolina will tee it up this weekend.
Alabama is coming off one of the biggest wins in school history with a one-shot victory at the 2010 NCAA Fall Preview at the Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas. The 15-under-par 849 Alabama totaled is a school record in relation to par, - 11 strokes better than the 4-under-par 848 on the par-71 NorthRiver Yacht Club last spring to win the SEC Championship. The 849 also set the Traditions Golf Club 54-hole course record, shattering the mark by 34 strokes (Southern California, +19, 2006 NCAA Central Regional).
Senior Camilla Lennarth and junior Brooke Pancake both paced the Crimson Tide attack with 5-under-par totals of 211 to finish tied for fourth. A career low final-round of 66 gave sophomore Jennifer Kirby a top-10 finish while true freshman Stephanie Meadow finished tied for 25th and senior Courtney Harter tied for 37th.
