BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Alabama sophomore forward Brooke Rogers was named to the All-SEC Second Team as announced by the conference office today. The honor marks a career first for the Cincinnati, Ohio native.
"I am happy she got recognized," head coach Todd Bramble said. "She scored big goals in big games against tough conference opponents. She had to sacrifice as a reserve but she has added something to the game each time and it is reflective in the stats."
With the honor Rogers becomes the first member of the Crimson Tide to earn first or second team accolades since Libby Probst was tabbed to the second team in 2004. Justine Bernier and Victoria Frederick were named to the All-Freshman team last season.
Rogers paced the Tide during conference action with eight points on three goals and two assists. Overall Rogers was tied for third on the squad with 10 points on three goals and four assists. Her four helpers were tied for the team lead.
In two of the three games the forward scored this season Alabama earned key conference victories on the road. Rogers scored and handed out an assist in a 2-0 win to open league play at Vanderbilt. Rogers then tallied another three points with a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win at Arkansas.
Alabama will now head to Orange, Beach, Ala. to play in its first SEC Tournament game since 2004. The Crimson Tide is pitted against No. 7 ranked Florida on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 5:00 p.m.
