Darkness Halts Completion of 2nd Round of Shoal Creek Intercollegiate

Rain Monday morning pushed back play and ultimately delayed the finish of the second round Monday at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate. The University of Alabama is one of 15 teams competing for the title in the golf tournament hosted by UAB.
Alabama was tied for fourth after one round, shooting two over par, 290, in the morning’s opening round. LSU led the field at four-under par, shooting 284 on the par 72 course to hold a one stroke lead ahead of Tennessee (285). At third is Georgia State at even par, 288, followed by Alabama and Florida (290), Notre Dame (291), East Tennessee State (294), tied at eighth Florida State and UAB (295), at 10th SMU (297), followed by North Carolina State (298), North Florida (299), Central Florida (300), Toledo (302) and Birmingham Southern (312).
Joseph Sykora and Matt Swan both shared the low morning round for the Tide, carding 71 to place among a tie for 7th. Lance Walker shot 73, one over par, and is tied for 22nd. Matt Hughes shot 75 and is tied at 41st, and, after one round, Mark Harrell was tied at 57th after shooting 77.
The teams left on the course Monday evening will finish their second round play on Tuesday morning. The final 18 holes will follow.
