TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - On Thursday afternoon, Alabama hosted a preseason media day for its fall sports, giving local media an opportunity to get a preview of the 2011 season. Attending the event for the Crimson Tide were representatives from the women's volleyball and men's and women's cross country teams.
In attendance for the volleyball team was first-year head coach Ed Allen, senior setter Stephanie Riley and junior outside hitter Kayla Fitterer. Representing cross country was new head coach Dan Waters.
Following a brief meet-and-greet session reporters were able to sit and chat with each coach and student-athlete individually.
Soccer kicks off its regular season Friday, Aug. 19, when it hosts Kennesaw State at 7 p.m. CT at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. Volleyball will open its competitive season when it hosts the Hampton Inn Bama Bash on Aug. 26-27 at Foster Auditorium; their opening match is Friday at noon CT against Alabama State. The cross country team opens its seasons in on Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Georgia Invitational in Athens, Ga.
