The University of Alabama is currently at the NCAA national tournament in Austin, Texas. A member of the University of Alabama volleyball team will write a journal each day the team is in Austin. Today junior Crystal Hudson talks about the game day finally arriving.
Today was the day that each person that’s apart of our program (fans, players, coaches, etc...) looks forward to...a chance to play for a national championship. The harsh reality is that once a team loses, they are out of the tournament. That’s when the reflections of all the hard work come into play... lifting weights, early morning workouts, and countless hours in the gym are expected to pay off. Teams take this preparation and use it as a motivation to put themselves in a position to play in the National Tournament.
This is our team’s second appearance in the tournament and every year is another journey that we have made together. In my opinion, this year is the strongest the SEC has ever been. We all witnessed upsets and first times for many of the teams. Finishing third in the SEC was something that we did together, and we all know it wasn’t easy. We took some early conference losses and soared with them. Though we didn’t go as far in the NCAA tournament as we all expected, on the brighter side we did accomplished great things this year. We must continue to grow as players and coaches. We as players MUST always remember what it felt like in that locker room tonight and in the off season work harder to get better and continue to make our program successful. When we all think we have done all we can do, we need to do a little more. I personally want to say thank you to all the fans for your support throughout the season. To Abbi Blackburn and Racheal Green, it’s been a crazy four years and it’s very rare that people can be apart of something special. You two were truly apart of SOMETHING SPECIAL. We all love you and will miss you. Though the next season seems so far away, it will be here before we all know it. Until next time, ROLL TIDE ROLL.
