TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama sophomore setter Sierra Wilson was selected to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District IV volleyball team, it was announced on Thursday.
Wilson is the first Crimson Tide volleyball player to earn academic all-district honors since 2004 when Erin Heffner and Kory Tull were second team selections. She is the first player to earn first team honors since 2001 when Shelly Adamcik and Jen Wagner were first team selections.
Wilson is in the having another outstanding season for Alabama as the setter from Anaheim, Calif., has dished out 1,087 assists to average 12.08 assists per set. The 12.08 assists per set are second in the Southeastern Conference and fourth in the country.
In the classroom, Wilson maintains a 4.0 grade point average as an English major. A member of the University of Alabama Honors Program, Wilson was a SEC Academic Honor Roll selection following her freshman season.
Wilson is the seventh Alabama volleyball player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team honors, and is now eligible for a spot on the Capital One Academic All-America Volleyball Team ballot, when first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in later this month.
