TUSCALOOSA – The University of Alabama volleyball team hopes to continue its winning ways when they conclude a four-match road swing this weekend against Southeastern Conference Western Division rivals Arkansas and LSU.
The Crimson Tide (16-5, 6-4 SEC) is coming off an impressive showing last weekend that saw Bama defeat both Mississippi State and Ole Miss in straight games. It marked the Tide’s first SEC weekend sweep this year.
“We had very solid and consistent play last weekend,” said UA head coach Judy Green, who will coach in her 750th career match on Friday night. “Hopefully, we can build on that play and put together another strong showing this weekend against two strong opponents. We are looking forward to the rematches with Arkansas and LSU. We are excited about having the opportunity to play on TV.”
Alabama meets SEC West leading Arkansas (10-10, 7-3 SEC) on Friday night at 7 p.m. The Lady Razorbacks have won 8 of their last 10 matches including a current three-match win streak. Arkansas defeated the Tide (3-1) earlier this month in Tuscaloosa to post their sixth consecutive win in the series. Bama heads to Fayetteville in search of its first ever victory with the Tide owning a 0-10 mark in Barnhill Arena.
On Sunday, the Tide looks for a second straight season sweep of the LSU Tigers after posting a 3-0 win on Oct. 8 in the CAVE. Bama and LSU square off at 2 p.m. in a match set to be televised live by Fox Sports Net South. LSU, who plays Auburn on Friday night, owns an 11-9, 3-7 SEC record this year. Alabama has won three straight versus the Tigers and five of the last six meetings.
Following this weekend’s action, Alabama returns home for a pair of rematch contests with Ole Miss (Nov. 5) and Mississippi State (Nov. 7).
