TUSCALOOSA ?? The Crimson Tide volleyball team is participating once again in the Beat Auburn/Beat Hunger Food Drive as a part of Homecoming Week at the Capstone. Alabama welcomes the rival Tigers into the CAVE for an SEC match at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27.
“We are happy to be participating in the Beat Auburn/Beat Hunger Food Drive,” Tide head coach Judy Green said. “The time has come for Alabama fans to break this six-year losing streak, so I encourage all of our fans to bring as many canned goods as possible for this meaningful cause.”
Fans attending the match between the instate foes will be able to donate canned foods. Collections bins will be available throughout the facility and donations will be accepted throughout the weekend. The Tide hosts highly-ranked Florida on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
The Beat Auburn/Beat Hunger drive is a competition between the two schools to measure which institution’s fans donate the most food. Auburn has won the food drive competition the past six years.
On the volleyball floor, Alabama lost to Auburn on the road earlier this season, but has won 12 of the last 13 meetings between the two schools in the series.
