Former Volleyball Great Brigitte Slack Signs Pro Contract
Aug. 27, 2008 Former Alabama standout Brigitte Slack signed a contract to play professional volleyball in Koln, Germany it was announced today. "Brigitte has dreamed of this moment for a very long time and now she is getting to live her dream," Alabama head coach Judy Green said. "She went through an intense tryout with this club for almost two weeks and she won the job. " Slack signed with TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen. She joins fellow 2007 seniors Bridget Fuentez and Crystal Hudson in playing professionally in Europe. Both Fuentez and Hudson play for Pinguela VBC in Monforte, Spain. Slack finished out her Alabama career as the program's all-time assists leader with 5,578, more than a 1,000 better than second place. All four of her single-season assists totals rank among the Tide's top-10. She also ranked in the Southeastern Conference's top-10 as a sophomore, junior and senior. "As Alabama fans know, Brigitte is phenomenal setter and now she can apply her touch to the international volleyball world," Green said. "We are all very happy for her to have this opportunity." And while Slack, Fuentez and Hudson are playing overseas, their former teammates are getting ready to open the 2008 season Friday at 7 p.m. in the Hampton Inn Bama Bash.
