Day 10 of preseason and only 11 more days until our first true test.  Today’s practice was a day for individual improvements. The day began with some basic passing drills to get our feet moving and ready for the rest of practice.  After warm ups, we then played another passing drill but this one was more energetic.  We split into two teams with three passers out and two servers serving to the opposite team.  The goal of the drill was to get to 50 passing points before the other team.

We then went on to practice some much needed line digging on the right side by playing another game where we had to get 10 out of 20 digs to the dig box or else there were consequences (run to the net do 3 block jumps, back peddle to the ten foot line, do 6 crunches, run to the net do 4 pushups, back peddle to the end do 7 tuck jumps, run to the net, and shuffle to your right on the way back, or something like that??)  This drill was a bit more challenging for us to complete but we pushed through it and got the job done.

We then worked on blocking combination hitting and everyone not only got a chance to work on their blocking but also got a chance to get some hitting practice in as well.  We ended practice with a fun game of baseball.  We split into two teams and the team receiving the serve was up at bat and after they won the served ball they got free balls until the serving team stopped them and that’s an out.  Once the team gets three outs the roles are switched and the game goes from there.

After practice we had some light weight training.  Everyone was really focused and got the job done in the weight room since no one wanted to be late for the first day of massages!!!!  Everyone on the team gets one 30-minute massage session, which was greatly needed.  Today was also everyone’s favorite day of preseason, the day that the Karr’s have the team over for dinner!  They always have the most amazing food and everyone always has a great time, and this year was definitely no disappointment.  Heff, Megan, Crystal and I got to go over an hour early and help make the desert, cookies and brownies, YUM!  We had an awesome dinner and sundaes, cookies and brownies for dessert.

Over all today was a great day for the Tide...  a day full of individual improvement and strong work ethic. Keep up the good work girls!!!  Roll Tide!
