Brooks Webster Named to SEC Volleyball Coaches Preseason Team
Aug. 17, 2009
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior outside hitter Brooks Webster was named to the Volleyball Coaches Preseason All-SEC Team on Monday. Webster is one of nine student-athletes in the conference to be honored with this selection. “We are proud of Brooks being named to this very talented All-SEC team,” said head coach Judy Green. “Last season she proved she was one of the best players in the conference, and this year she will have to do the same. Every player on this prestigious team has worked to improve her game, and we are expecting Brooks to do her share to help our team get better.” An anchor for Crimson Tide’s offense, Webster led her squad, as well as the entire league, with 4.04 kills per set in 2008. She proved to be consistent over the season for Alabama, racking up 11 double-doubles and double-digit kills on 22 occasions. Webster set her career-high in kills towards the end of the season with 26 at Georgia on Nov. 9. She also stepped up for the Tide on the defensive end with 287 digs and 45 blocks, 16 of which were solo efforts. Webster’s play earned her honors in every tournament Alabama participated in during the 2008 season. She was named to the Hampton Inn Bama Bash and Hurricane Invitational All-Tournament teams. In addition, Webster was crowned MVP of the Crimson Tide Invitational where she led all players with 44 kills in addition to grabbing 24 digs and seven blocks. Catch Webster, and the rest of the Tide in action in the team’s annual Crimson/White scrimmage Saturday, August 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the CAVE.
