TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - After spending one season as a volunteer on the Alabama volleyball staff, Kevin Dunn has been hired as an assistant coach, which was announced by head coach Judy Green on Monday. Dunn will work primarily with the setters and assist with scouting and film breakdown.

"It was a natural transition to make by promoting Kevin to a full-time assistant coaching position after he spent his first season as our volunteer coach," Green said. "Our players are very familiar with Kevin and know his personality, which will help them as we head into our preseason camp in early August. Kevin brings good experience to our staff and I believe he, Josh and I will have great chemistry that our team is going to depend upon. I appreciate Kevin's loyalty to me and to our volleyball program."

Prior to arriving in Tuscaloosa a year ago, Dunn spent one season as a graduate assistant at Southern Arkansas University where he was responsible for practice planning, recruiting and offseason conditioning. Under his direction, the Lady Muleriders won 11 matches and had two All-Gulf South Conference Western Division Team selections.

"I'm really excited for this opportunity because I have loved the University of Alabama since I stepped foot on campus last year," Dunn said. "It has been a dream of mine to be a Division I coach, and now I get to live that every day."

Dunn began his coaching career as the junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant coach at Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, Mo. While at Lindenwood, he planned and executed conditioning routines and teambuilding exercises. Dunn's 2007 Lions squad finished with a fifth place NAIA national ranking.

Dunn also enjoyed a solid playing career at Lindenwood helping to lead the Lions to national rankings from 2003-2007. In 2006, he guided Lindenwood to the NAIA National Championship Finals. Dunn was a four-time Academic All-Conference selection graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and business administration.
