TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama volleyball team returned to Foster Auditorium on Friday night for its Power of Pink match presented by Tuscaloosa Toyota, where the Crimson Tide suffered a straight sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-14) Southeastern Conference loss to No. 11 ranked Florida Gators.
Alabama (14-8, 3-7 SEC) was held to a .036 hitting percentage, as the Tide collected just 20 kills with 17 hitting errors on 83 total swings. The Gators (16-2, 10-0 SEC) finished the match with a .405 hitting mark, collecting 44 kills with 12 errors on 79 attempts. The Tide had just 21 digs in the match, while Florida posted 41 digs as a team.
The Tide was led by Laura Steiner’s five kills, while Kayla Fitterer had four. Andrea McQuaid, Katherine White and Mattie Weldy added three kills each. Libero, Cristina Arenas led Alabama with eight digs and Sierra Wilson had a season-low 18 assists.
The Gators were led by Chloe Mann’s 13 kills and Zeva Recek added 12. Setter Taylor Brauneis had 37 assists and libero Taylor Unroe had a match high 18 digs.
Alabama continues Southeastern Conference action on Sunday, Oct. 21 when the Tide hosts Georgia. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., at Foster Auditorium.
