BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Alabama women's track and field team landed seven student-athletes on the SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll as announced by the conference office today. The seven selections ties for the most of any sport at the University of Alabama.

SEC Commissioner Mike Slive named Jordan Harper, Meghan Hawkins, Angelica Howard, Haley Moody, Nicole Okolo, Rachel Robbs, and Kiara Thompson to the honor roll.

As a school, Alabama was third among all SEC institutions with 56 honorees. To be eligible for the honor, each student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution as well as have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution. The 2008 SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2007-08 academic calendar.

Howard scored points for the Crimson Tide in the shot put at the Indoor and Outdoor SEC Championships placing fifth outdoors. Moody finished 13th at the SEC Cross Country Championships and 18th at the NCAA South Region Championships to earn All-SEC and All-South Region, respectively.

Okolo finished sixth in the 4x100 meter relay at the Mideast Region Championships to earn All-Mideast Region honors. Robbs etched her name into the Alabama record books this year sitting at number two in the heptathlon.
