Former Tide Standout Alexa Guarachi Wins First Professional Tournament

VANCOUVER - Former Alabama All-American Alexa Guarachi won her first professional tournament on Sunday, beating top-seeded Yuki Higuchi, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(6), in the Canada Direct Insurance Women's 10K singles final.

Guarachi, who lettered for the Crimson Tide from 2009-13, won her first three matches in straight sets before pulling out third-set winners in the semifinals and finals. She is now 12-4 in main draw matches this season holding a world ranking of 825.
