Women's Tennis Begins NCAA Championship Play Friday Against Jackson State

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 2 seed women's tennis team will host NCAA Championship First and Second Round action on Friday and Saturday at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. The Crimson Tide is slated to take on Jackson State in Friday's first round match at 4 p.m. CT. That match will be preceded by the Princeton/Arizona State match, which is set to begin at 1 p.m. CT.

Alabama, hosting first and second rounds for the third-straight year, has had its best season in program history, winning the Southeastern Conference Championship for the first time, finishing with a 12-1 league record. The Tide also advanced to the SEC Tournament Championship for the first time and is making its 13th NCAA tournament appearance and 11th under head coach Jenny Mainz. Alabama heads into tournament play with a 22-4 record, which is the best mark in the Mainz era.

Jackson State (10-17) is making its first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2009. The Lady Tigers are the automatic qualifier out of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

In addition, tickets will be on sale at the gate beginning one hour prior to the start of match play. The cost per session is $5 all ages and $3 for Alabama students.
