Alexa Guarachi and Mary Anne Macfarlane earned a top-eight seed in the NCAA Doubles Championship, awarding the duo ITA All-America honors in doubles. They will also represent the Crimson Tide individually as at-large selections in the NCAA Singles Championship.
Guarachi and Macfarlane have been ranked in the top six in the nation throughout the dual match season, compiling a record of 13-7 at the No. 1 position. The Tide team has taken down nine nationally-ranked opponents along the way, four of which were against top-10 foes.
In singles, Macfarlane and Guarachi have held down the top two positions for Alabama all season, combining for 19 wins in dual matches. Macfarlane has eight victories against opponents ranked nationally in singles, while Guarachi has collected nine wins versus the top players in the nation.
Guarachi is making her fourth appearance in the NCAA Doubles Championship and third in the NCAA Singles Championship. Macfarlane will be taking part in the singles tournament for the third straight year and the doubles tournament for the second consecutive season.
The singles and doubles competition will take place May 22-27, at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Ill., following the conclusion of the team championships. Draws will be made at a later date.
