GAINESVILLE, Fla. Three Alabama women’s tennis players earned All-SEC as announced by the SEC Wednesday.
Seniors Robin Stephenson and Ashley Bentley earned First Team All-SEC honors while junior Mari Muller was named Second Team All-SEC. Bentley also won her second consecutive SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.
Stephenson, a unanimous First Team selection, posted a 23-10 mark overall and was 7-4 this season in SEC play. She enters the post-season as the fourth-highest ranked player in the conference and has recorded seven wins this season over ranked opponents.
Bentley is 25-11 this season and 8-3 against SEC opponents. She enters the post-season having won eight of her last ten matches. She also posted a 3.754 GPA to earn her second straight SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.
Stephenson and Bentley are also tied with each other as Alabama’s all-time winningest singles players. Each has 91 career singles victories.
Muller won 20 matches this season for the first time in her career. She was essential in Alabama winning the Western Division this season. Muller had two crucial match-clinching wins in matches against Ole Miss and South Carolina. She needs just one more win to become the 23rd member of Alabama’s “21-Win Club”.
Alabama will begin play in the SEC Tournament Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT when it takes on Mississippi State.
