Mary Anne Macfarlane Named to the SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sophomore Mary Anne Macfarlane has been named to the 2012 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team for women's tennis, which was announced by the league office on Wednesday. The SEC honors student-athletes from each of its 20 sports annually that give back to their community in superior service efforts.

Macfarlane, a native of Ogden, Utah, was active in assisting Temporary Emergency Services of Tuscaloosa as well as her local church following the tornadoes of April 27, 2011. Additionally, she has taken part in a pair of USTA/ITA Campus Kids Days while a member of the team and assisted with the UA Athletic Department Halloween Extravaganza, Read Across America and the Walk to Defeat ALS.

Catch Macfarlane and the rest of the team in action on Friday as the Crimson Tide begins play at the SEC Tournament in Oxford, Miss. Alabama, the No. 2 seed, has a bye in the first round and will take on the winner of the Arkansas/LSU match on Friday at Noon CT.
