TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The eighth-ranked women's tennis team (7-1) will host No. 21 Texas Tech (6-1) on Friday, beginning at 5 p.m. CT. Depending on the weather, the match will either be played outdoors at the Alabama Tennis Stadium or indoors at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.
The Crimson Tide enters Friday's match having won its last three outings, two of which came against top-15 opponents. This will be the fifth top-25 team that Alabama has faced this year. Last time out, the Tide topped Washington, 5-2, in Tuscaloosa, moving to 3-0 at home this season.
The Red Raiders' lone loss in 2013 came to then-No. 15 Baylor in a 4-3 decision. The Tide also took on the Bears, defeating Baylor at the ITA National Indoor Championships, 4-3. Texas Tech has yet to drop matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
This will be the fifth time the women have faced the Red Raiders and the first time since 2011 in which the Tide defeated Texas Tech in a close match, 4-3.
