Feb. 6, 2014

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The 12th-ranked women's tennis team (3-0) heads to Charlottesville, Va. this weekend for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships and will face sixth-ranked, and tournament No. 5 seed, Southern California (3-0) in the first round on Friday. The Crimson Tide and Trojans are slated to play at 2:30 p.m. CT.

This is Alabama's second trip to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, with its first coming a season ago. At the 2013 tournament, the Tide lost its first match, 4-1, to No. 14 Northwestern, but bounced back with a pair of 4-3 victories over No. 15 Baylor and No. 11 Texas.

USC advanced to the quarterfinals a season ago, falling to eventual champion North Carolina, 4-3. The Trojans, defending Pac-12 champions, have four nationally-ranked singles players, led by No. 13 Sabrina Santamaria, as well as three doubles teams ranked nationally, including the No. 3 tandem of Brynn Boren and Zoe Katz.
