Women's Tennis Ranked 23rd to Start the Season

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The women's tennis team will enter the 2012 season ranked 23rd in the nation, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Wednesday. In addition, the Crimson Tide placed three in the singles rankings and one team in the doubles standings.

Representing Alabama in singles is sophomore Mary Anne Macfarlane, who came in at No. 13 nationally. She is followed by junior Alexa Guarachi, ranking 43rd, and senior Courtney McLane, who came in at No. 104. In doubles, Macfarlane and Guarachi make up the nation's No. 17 team.

The Tide will kick off the 2012 portion of its schedule on January 14, at the University of Virginia Invitational in Charlottesville, Va.
