AUBURN, Ala. –
The Alabama women’s tennis team ended its run at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships on Sunday with losses in the semifinals of doubles and the quarterfinals of singles.
In doubles, the Crimson Tide’s Mary Anne Daines and Natalia Maynetto were narrowly edged out by Auburn’s No. 3 seed Pleun Burgmans and Emily Flickinger, 8-6, for a spot in the finals, while in singles, Burgmans, the tournament’s No. 1 seed, beat Alabama freshman Erin Routliffe, 6-3, 7-6(3) and No. 3 seed Caroline Rohde-Moe of Ole Miss outlasted Danielle Spielmann, 6-7, 6-1, 7-5.
The Tide will be back in action in two weeks when it hosts the Roberta Alison Fall Classic, Nov. 1-3.
