AUBURN, Ala. –
The women’s tennis team added four wins on day two of the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships with two coming in doubles and the other two in singles.
The Crimson Tide’s 5-8 seeded duo of Mary Anne Daines and Natalia Maynetto posted two wins, 8-3 and 8-6, to advance to Sunday’s doubles semifinals. They are scheduled to take on Auburn’s Pleun Burgmans and Emily Flickinger, the tournament’s No. 3 seed, at 10 a.m. CT.
In singles, Erin Routliffe recorded her third straight set victory of the tournament to advance to the quarterfinals where she will take on No. 1 seed Burgmans on Sunday. Despite dropping her first set, Danielle Spielmann battled back to down Mississippi State’s Georgiana Patrasc to also represent the Tide in the quarterfinals. Spielmann will face Ole Miss’ Caroline Rohde-Moe, the No. 3 seed. Both singles matches will take place at 10:30 a.m.
