The fifth-ranked women's tennis team wrapped up its 2014 regular-season home schedule with a 4-0 victory on Mary Anne Daines'
Senior Day over Missouri Sunday at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility. With the win, the Crimson Tide closed out an undefeated home season and improved to 18-3 overall and 10-1 against Southeastern Conference opponents, while the loss drops the Tigers to 6-19 on the season and 0-11 in league matches., while the loss drops the Tigers to 6-19 on the season and 0-11 in league matches.
Alabama played a dominant doubles point, winning on courts two and three for the 1-0 lead. On court three, Emily Zabor and Danielle Spielmann failed to give up a single point, cruising to an 8-0 victory over Kelli Hine and Tracy Dong. Erin Routliffe and Luicelena Perez would then seal the point for the Tide as they topped Rachel Stuhlmann and Cassidy Spearman, 8-3, on court two.
Alabama won three-straight singles matches to complete the shutout over the Tigers getting victories from Spielmann, Routliffe and Maya Jansen. Spielmann was first to finish, beating Stuhlmann, 6-1, 6-1, on court two before Routliffe, ranked 57th, posted a 6-1, 6-3 win on court three over Madison Rhyner. No. 82 Jansen then clinched her second-straight match with a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Spearman on court four. The remaining three matches would go unfinished.
Alabama will close out the regular season on the road next weekend when it plays at Georgia and Tennessee. Friday's match against the Bulldogs will start at 4 p.m. CT, while Sunday's match versus the Lady Volunteers is slated to begin at Noon CT.
