Mari Muller, who played for the Crimson Tide from 2004-07, enters her second season on the Alabama staff as a volunteer assistant coach. Muller jumped onboard in January for the start of the 2013 dual match season.
In Muller's first year, Alabama advanced to the NCAA Championship Round of 16 and reached the 20-win milestone for the first time since 1984. The Tide also had representatives in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship semifinals for the first time in program history, in Alexa Guarachi and Mary Anne Macfarlane. The doubles duo went on to earn All-America and ITA All-Star honors, while Guarachi also collected All-America honors in singles.
After earning her undergraduate degree from Alabama in 2007, Muller worked in Atlanta as a graphic designer. She then returned to The Capstone to pursue a master's degree in fine arts, which she finished in 2011.
Muller, the 2007 Alabama team MVP, worked her way up the Tide's lineup, eventually playing No. 1 her senior season. She finished her career with 59 singles wins and 60 doubles victories for Alabama. Muller was a 2006 Second Team All-SEC honoree and was a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Muller also currently works as a tennis coach at Indian Hills Country Club in Tuscaloosa.
