Florida State Beats Tennessee Chattanooga 5-3 in Eight Innings

TUSCALOOSA - The Florida State Seminoles beat Tennessee Chattanooga 5-3 in the fourth game of the NCAA Softball Championships Tuscaloosa Regional in the first extra innings game of the regional.

The Seminoles were up 2-0 going into the bottom of the seventh inning before UTC's Michelle Fuzzard hit a two-run homer to even things up. FSU came back with three more runs in the top of the eighth inning. Chattanooga threatened to come back again in the bottom of the eighth, scoring another run on a Tiffany Baker solo homerun before FSU closed things out.

FSU pitcher Tiffany McDonald picked up the win, going to 17-11 on the season while UTC's Kandice Irwin took the loss, falling to 9-9.

The Seminoles will take on Jacksonville State in Friday's final game with the winner advancing to Saturday's championship game against Alabama. The championship game gets underway at 7:30 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN2.
