TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama head softball coach Patrick Murphy announced the signing of Sydney Littlejohn (Rusk, Texas). Littlejohn comes to the Capstone from Rusk High School.
"Sydney is going to be a great addition to our pitching staff," Murphy said. "At 6-1, her height gives her an immediate great presence on the mound. Sydney has pitched at a high level of competition for years and will complement Jackie Traina, Lauren Sewell, and Leslie Jury."
During her high school career, Littlejohn was named the 2012 Pitcher of the Year, as well as the 2011 State Most Valuable Player.
Littlejohn also led her club team to a runner-up finish at the 2011 PGF Fastpitch National Championships, as well as to a fourth-place finish at the ASA Gold Nationals in Oklahoma City in 2012.
"Not only will she bring skill, but she also brings a tremendous team-first attitude to the mound," Murphy said. "I think our fans will love watching her pitch."
Off the softball field, Littlejohn is a member of the National Honor Society and was a junior varsity mascot. Littlejohn will also graduate in the top 10 of her graduating class.
